Miniature Carousel Builders Corner
This month we are presenting a beautiful construction from a new member of the Miniature Carousel Builders. Blaine Warner of New York joined in 2004 but previously built his carousel in 2002. At age 16 he began collecting music boxes which includes Symphonies, Regina, Mira, and Stella. Also, he owns a Wurlitzer band organ from an Atlantic City boardwalk carousel. This hobby inspired him to build a carousel and his wife, Marge, encouraged him in this endeavor.

THE DETAILS:
- Base: Tabletop; Tetradecagon--14-sides
- Carousel: 37" Diameter; 18" Height
- Twelve sweeps, three rows; (Two sweeps, 4 rows)
- Type: Overhead Crank
- Lights: 180 clear
- Original Design
The carousel and base are mounted on a 28" high table. The base has 14 sides and houses the mechanism and tape player. The white knobbed panel opens to provide access to the switches. Mahogany and oak with a natural finish were used in the construction throughout the carousel.
The rounding board contains pictures of country scenes, "round" mirrors, and lights. He used postcard scenes and mirrors on the inside picture board panels. A menagerie of 32 ceramic animals painted by Blaine and two sleighs (or chariots) made of wood and ceramic are featured. "Mommy" can ride the sleigh and watch her "little ones" ride the smaller horses located in front of the sleigh. Blaine made the wooden band organ with two drums. A tape player, with automatic reverse, plays authentic band organ music.

Blaine displayed his carousel and band organ, mounted on a trailer, in an "Old Home Day" parade near his hometown.
